1. How do we obtain your information?
If you choose not to create an account before making a purchase, BFS only receives your details once you have placed an order. If you create an account then your information is stored on the Shopify hosting system. Orders can be placed online or by telephone.
2. What information do we receive?
All orders require you to provide your name and address, a shipping address, email and telephone number.
In addition to the above, orders paid for using Shopify payments also provide BFS with limited financial information - see example below.

At no time are we supplied with your full card details.
3. How do we use your information?
Your name & address is used only to confirm that your payment is not fraudulent and to help BFS to match orders to payments.
The shipping address is used only for the purposes of delivering your order.
Email addresses and phone numbers are used to contact you if it is necessary to ensure the smooth delivery of your goods, or to obtain or provide further information regarding your order.
When orders are placed by phone, the final invoice is emailed to the customer. No payment is taken by phone.
We never use your information to contact you for any purpose other than the satisfactory completion of your order or enquiry. (*)
BFS will not sell on your information to another party.
(*) Customers may select to receive email marketing using the tick box at checkout. Customers who accept this communication may opt out at anytime by replying to the email stating that they wish to opt out. Opt out will be actioned within 48 hours.
4. Retention of data
Once your order is completed, your order information is archived - A copy of the invoice/payment is retained as a PDF and held for 6 financial years to comply with HMRC rules. The PDF shows your name & the given delivery address, along with email & phone number, if supplied. It also details what was purchased and the price paid. We do not receive &, therefore, do not store your bank details.
5. Cookies
BFS uses cookies to gather browsing information and help to give you a better shopping experience. We also use a number of 3rd party sites such as Google Pay, Paypal and Facebook which collect data using FB Pixel and other cookies.

If you require further information regarding the use of your data, please contact BFS using the 'Message Us' button or by email.
At Books From Sharon we do not process payments ourselves. All payments are taken via 3rd party sites (Shopify / Paypal / Others) and they will provide their own data protection and privacy policies.
7. Facebook messaging
If you choose to contact us via Facebook, your conversation with us is automatically saved. We encourage you NOT to share personal information in a FB message but, if you do so, we will delete the post for you.
8. Clearing your information
If you wish to know exactly what information we hold or would like your data removed (order history, messages, etc), please send an email request.
9. Your consent
By placing an order with BFS you consent to our terms & conditions, including the use of your data for the reasons set out above.
